Extension and Compensating Cables

Extension Cable KX

Extension cable KX is an extension cable with conductors made of the same material as the thermocouple itself. Extension cables are subject to the same accuracy limits as the thermocouples and indicates a more precise temperature at elevated ambient temperature then the more usual compensating cable. KX means that the cable is an extension cable for thermocouples of type K (NiCr-Ni). The insulation of the conductors and the sheaths can be made of a variety of materials.

Compensating Cable KCA/KCB/VX

Compensating cable work as an extension cable between a thermocouples of type K and a control unit. These types of cables is made of materials which only in a limited temperature range have the same thermoelectric properties as the thermocouple. This cable gives a lower cost solution with similar performance as extension cable KX. Compensating cables are marked with a C for compensating and with KC means that the cable is a compensating cable for the thermocouple type K. The B at the end clarifies the maximum ambient temperature for maximum accuracy in these case stands B for 100°C and A for 150°C. The VX cable is type K compensating at ambient temperatures up to 80°C. The insulation of the conductors and the sheaths can be made of a variety of materials.
