Boogie Hearth Furnace

Our boogie hearth furnaces are used for heat treatment of heavy and bulky components, most often made of steel. Temperature and atmosphere vary depending on the material and process; hardening, annealing, soft annealing, normalizing, stress relieving, homogenization, and recrystallization are common applications, with operating temperatures ranging from 60 to 1200 °C.

The boogie hearth furnace is usually loaded outside the oven using a forklift or crane before being rolled into the oven to start the heat treatment process. The material is normally cooled inside the oven before the operator removes the trolley, but with a special design, the furnace can be opened and the material removed for cooling or transport to quenching while the oven is still hot and in operation.

The furnace is insulated with high-temperature insulation and mineral wool. Heating elements are typically mounted on the oven’s interior side walls and, in some cases, on the bottom and the door to achieve the highest possible temperature accuracy.

The motor-driven furnace is built with a steel frame insulated with refractory bricks. Our boogie hearth furnaces are equipped with our unique cooling seal between the oven chamber and the furnace; the seal opens automatically during cooling to enable efficient and accelerated cooling.

Our boogie hearth furnaces are available in several configurations, with the design adapted to the customer’s facilities and requirements, for example: a vertically opening hatch or horizontally sliding door, left- or right-hinged door opened manually.

We can also comply with specific industry standards, such as AMS2750 (Aerospace) and CQI-9 (Automotive).
